Jane M. Haverty
Ms. Haverty is a native Atlantan and a partner in Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP’s Real Estate Section.
Ms. Haverty’s Real Estate practice has an emphasis on commercial real estate transactions representing developers, major retail tenants and restaurants in shopping center and big box retail developments throughout the Southeastern United States. Jane currently serves as the Firm’s Pro Bono Partner and Chair of the Pro Bono/Community Service Committee
Representative Transactions
- For the past fifteen years, served as real estate counsel to a publicly traded national retail furniture company with approximately $860 million dollars in net sales in 2006, overseeing and handling the drafting, negotiation and closing of all purchase and sale and leasing transactions for 120 retail stores and warehouse/distribution centers in 17 states in the Southern and Midwest regions of the United States
- Acquisition, construction, development and financing of regional warehouse/distribution centers in Georgia, North Carolina and Texas, representing the owner/operator.
- $60 million dollar sale-leaseback of retail furniture locations in multiple southeastern states, representing the seller/tenant.
- Acquisition, disposition and financing through IRC 1031 exchange transactions, of multiple retail store locations throughout the Southeast.
Jane received her B.A., cum laude, from Colgate University in 1976, and her J.D. degree, cum laude, from the University of Georgia in 1981.
She was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 1981.
She is a past member of the Board of Directors: High Museum of Art; The Bridge Family Center of Atlanta, Inc.; Compeer, Inc.; Gilda’s Club of Atlanta, Inc.; Chastain Horse Park, Inc.; Buckhead Baseball, Inc.; and the Georgia School-Age Care Association.
She is currently a member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI); Atlanta ULI Sustainability Committee, Economics/Finance Subcommittee; Atlanta Police Foundation “Crime Stoppers” Advisory Council; Member, Leadership Atlanta, Class of 2008; Leadership Atlanta Project Team: Atlanta Recycles; Current Member, Board of Directors of The Rectory School, Pomfret Connecticut; It Won’t Happen To Me, Inc.; Saint Joseph’s Health System; Saint Joseph’s Mercy Foundation; Mercy Housing Southeast; and Chair, Saint Joseph’s Mercy Care Services, Inc.
