He has not only represented airlines in aviation labor matters, but he has also been involved with the representation of clients in airline mergers and acquisitions, privatization of national carriers, Air Freedom, rights including Fifth Freedom Rights, purchase and sale of aircraft, lease purchase and leasing of commercial aircraft, financing activities for used aircraft, financing for start up airlines and joint venture agreements with domestic and foreign companies.
A member of the State Bar of Georgia, Mr. Albanese is also a member of the Tennessee Bar and the Ohio Bar. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fifth, Sixth, Ninth and Eleventh Circuits, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Ohio.
Mr. Albanese had practiced in the area of employment, labor law, litigation, aviation and corporate law for a leading Southeastern law firm prior to joining Smith Gambrell. Mr. Albanese has counseled clients in numerous issues involving labor and employment law. From 1983-1984, he served as Chief Counsel to the Chairman of the National Labor Relations Board in Washington, D.C., where he supervised a staff of 40 attorneys responsible for the preparation of the decisions of the NLRB. Mr. Albanese has prepared supervisory training programs concerning effective supervision and fair employment practices and has lectured extensively throughout the country on labor and employment related issues. He has also assisted clients developing employee handbooks, noncompete agreements, and employee contracts.
Mr. Albanese’s experience touches a variety of industries including airlines, transportation, financial and investment banking, broadcasting, cable, telecommunications, newspapers, commercial printing, construction, food and dairy manufacturers and processors and distributors, convenience stores, hospitality, health care, general manufacturing, retail establishments including grocery, and a variety of service industries.
Mr. Albanese received his Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law in 1972. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Bowling Green State University in 1969.
Mr. Albanese has been involved in the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in Atlanta, as well as other charities and foundations.
