Edward H. Wasmuth, Jr.

Edward H. Wasmuth, Jr. is a partner in the Litigation Section of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP, with particular expertise in appellate practice and products liability and antitrust litigation.

He has represented Blue Bird Body Company in products liability matters.

A native of Pennsylvania, Mr. Wasmuth received a B.A. with honors in political economy from Johns Hopkins University in 1981. In 1984 he received his J.D. from the University of Virginia, where he was Executive Editor of the Virginia Journal of Natural Resources Law. He is a member of the Order of the Coif and winner of the William Minor Lile Moot Court Competition and the Stephen Pierre Traynor Award. While in law school, Mr. Wasmuth served as a part-time law clerk for the Honorable Herbert Pickford, Judge in the Circuit Court for the City of Charlottesville, Virginia.

Although Mr. Wasmuth has specialized in appellate practice and products liability litigation, he also has participated in litigation involving intellectual property rights, antitrust, corporate director liability, distributor terminations, environmental liability, arbitration enforcement, and commercial contracts. His courtroom experience includes over twenty jury trials and fifty appeals involving varied subjects, including patents, products liability, personal injuries, property taxes, contract disputes and criminal matters; regular appearances in Georgia and federal appellate courts; and arbitrations before the American Arbitration Association. He also has advised clients on subjects including antitrust compliance, manufacturer-distributor relations, and compliance with grand jury subpoenas.

Mr. Wasmuth served on the Board of Directors of the Federal Defender Program from 1993 to 1999 and was the president of the Board in 1997 to 1998.

Mr. Wasmuth is a member of the Georgia Bar Association, DRI and the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys.
