Edward D. Burch, Jr.
Edward D. Burch, Jr. is a partner in the Litigation Section of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP.
Mr. Burch has extensive trial experience in the Federal and State Courts of Georgia. He represents clients in complex commercial litigation, including real estate, insurance defense and business disputes. He has many years of experience helping clients assess their risks and resolve their problems through trial, mediation, arbitration and negotiation.
Mr. Burch specializes in real estate and title insurance litigation. He has helped establish several new precedents regarding the protection of secured title in bankruptcy proceedings. He regularly conducts seminars on this and other emerging trends in real estate law and has authored multiple articles on the subject.
Mr. Burch has an AV peer review rating from Martindale-Hubbell and has been recognized by his peers in Atlanta Magazine as a Georgia Super Lawyer, Rising Star. He has served as a Barrister with the Lumpkin Inn of Court and is a member of the State Bar of Georgia. He also serves as a member of the Real Property Section of the State Bar.
Mr. Burch is admitted to practice in the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the Supreme Court of the State of Georgia, the Court of Appeals of the State of Georgia, the District Courts of the Northern and Middle Districts of Georgia, and the State and Superior Courts of Georgia.
Mr. Burch received his B.A. from the University of Virginia and his degree of juris doctor from the University of Georgia School of Law, cum laude. He served on the Editorial Board of the Georgia Journal of International and Comparative Law. He was also a member of the Moot Court Team, on which he won the William B. Spong National Championship and the Hulsey-Kimbrel Moot Court Competition.
