Damon V. Pike

Damon V. Pike is Counsel in the International Section of Smith, Gambrell & Russell, LLP.

Mr. Pike’s main practice area is Customs and International Trade Law.

Mr. Pike represents client in the areas of customs law and administration, including customs valuation, tariff classification, trade preference programs, duty drawback, customs bonded warehouses and Foreign Trade Zones, country of origin marking, enforcement matters and regulatory audits; indirect tax planning; trade compliance process design; trade remedy actions, including advising and guidance in antidumping and countervailing duty actions under Title VII of the Tariff Act of 1930; and export controls.

Prior to joining SGR, Mr. Pike was President of The Pike Law Firm in Atlanta. From 1993-2006, he worked at Deloitte & Touche, where he served as National Director of Customs Services. He was appointed in 1997 by the U.S. Secretary of Commerce to the Exporters’ Textile Advisory Committee, where he served until 2006. He began his legal career as a law clerk to the Hon. R. Kenton Musgrave at the U.S. Court of International Trade in New York City.

Mr. Pike received his A.B. degree, cum laude, in Political Science and German from Duke University. He earned his J.D. degree from Wake Forest University, where he was a member of the Order of the Barristers and the Moot Court Board.

Mr. Pike is a member of the Georgia and North Carolina Bars, and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of International Trade and U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He is a member of the Customs and International Trade Bar Association, the American Association of Exporters & Importers, the Independent Freight Forwarders & Customs House Brokers Association of Atlanta, the British-American Business Group of Atlanta, and the American Bar Association. Mr. Pike is a licensed U.S. Customhouse broker and Adjunct Professor of Law at Emory University. He also serves on the Advisory Board of the Georgetown University Law Center’s annual International Trade Update.
