Her practice includes representation of debtors and creditors under all chapters of the bankruptcy code and creditors’ rights. Ms. Ellis-Monro has substantial experience related to out of court work outs and related litigation. In addition, she handles general contract and sales issues for clients.
Ms. Ellis-Monro received her B.S. degree in Business Management from Indiana University in 1984 and earned her J.D. degree from the University of Georgia in 1992. While in law school, she was a member of the Order of the Coif and from 1993-1995 served as law clerk to the Honorable George L. Proctor, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge for the Middle District of Florida.
In 2007, Ms. Ellis-Monro was recognized as one of Georgia’s “Elite Lawyers” in bankruptcy by Georgia Trend magazine. Ms. Ellis-Monro is admitted to the bar in Georgia, is past president of the Georgia Association of Women Lawyers, Atlanta Chapter and is currently a member of the board of the bankruptcy section of the State Bar of Georgia. Her other memberships include the International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation and the Bankruptcy section of the Atlanta Bar Association.
Ms. Ellis-Monro has served as special counsel to the debtor and the liquidating agent of Flooring America, Inc., counsel for Value Music, Inc., The Music Network and Knology Broadband, Inc. In addition she has served as counsel to the Chairman of the Creditors’ Committee in Pegasus Satellite Television, Inc. as well as serving as counsel to secured creditors in a number of other cases.
